Basically, the benefit of trees We define impact across three interconnected dimensions: ecological, social, and economic.
Ecological impact: Our projects contribute to CO₂ sequestration, biodiversity restoration, and climate resilience. For example, we monitor forest growth, survival rates, and ecosystem health.
Social impact: We work with local communities to generate fair jobs, skills training, and educational opportunities. Many of our partners are women-led or support marginalized groups, ensuring equitable and inclusive development.
Economic impact: Tree planting initiatives create long-term income streams, enhance local food security through agroforestry, and build resilience in economically challenged regions.
We combine on-the-ground data from our tree planting partners with scientific methodologies and third-party verification standards. This ensures that our work contributes meaningfully to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), not only in terms of ecological but also community well-being and regenerative local economies.
The environmental benefit of tree planting is global: CO₂ knows no borders, so carbon compensation is effective wherever it occurs. That said, we intentionally focus on planting in the Global South for several critical reasons:
1. Social impact: In collaboration with local partners, our projects create jobs, training opportunities, and educational programs in rural communities. We align our work with local cultures and empower local populations, contributing to sustainable development at the grassroots level.
2. Ecological efficiency: Due to lower land and labor costs, significantly more trees can be planted per Euro in the Global South compared to Europe. This allows our partners to reforest degraded land at scale, restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services.
3. Economic transformation: Tree planting in economically challenged regions creates long-term income opportunities and strengthens local resilience. Sustainability becomes a driver of development rather than a perceived constraint.
These principles are based on the three-pillar model of sustainable development, which integrates ecological, social, and economic benefits. It ensures that your tree planting investment has an impact far beyond carbon.
We support two types of projects: reforestation and agroforestry.
Reforestation focuses on restoring degraded landscapes by planting diverse, native tree species that create long-lasting forest ecosystems. Agroforestry, on the other hand, integrates trees into agricultural systems—helping smallholder farmers regenerate their land, increase food security, and build climate resilience. Both approaches are rooted in long-term ecological health and community ownership.
1. Permanent protection: The forests we establish are protected from logging, agriculture, and other encroachments through agreements with local governments and landowners.
2. Mixed native species: We never plant monocultures for reforestation. Instead, we use diverse, site-adapted native species that support biodiversity, increase resilience to climate extremes, and enhance the natural balance of the ecosystem. In agroforestry projects, we work with farmers to identify the most suitable species for their land and advise them on regenerative land management practices.
3. Community integration: Our projects are led by local communities. From the planning stage onward, we work hand-in-hand with cooperatives and smallholder farmers who know their land best. In agroforestry projects—such as those in India—trees like citrus or orange are planted for sustainable harvests, supporting both livelihoods and long-term care of the land. This community-led approach ensures forests are valued, protected, and integrated into everyday life.
By combining tree planting with social and economic empowerment, we help build living forests and diverse agroforestry ecosystems that are stable, productive, and ecologically sound.
The price per tree includes a combination of:
- Planting and project costs: Site preparation, nursery development, planting, and post-planting care (including watering, weeding, and protection during the initial years).
- Monitoring and administration: Ongoing verification of survival rates, ecosystem health checks, and reporting.
- Platform and service costs: Hosting, certification creation, communication materials, customer support, and partner onboarding.
Our pricing remains intentionally accessible to enable broad participation. At the same time, we invest in high-quality tree planting, avoiding cheap monocultures and prioritizing ecological integrity.
